Candle care
- Never leave a candle burning unattended or within reach of pets, small children or a draft.
- If the flame seems high or the container is too hot during burning, simply extinguish the flame, let it cool, trim the wick and reignite!
- Always trim your wick to 1/4 of an inch before each use. This makes a tremendous difference in the longevity of your candle. A long wick burns too hot, will burn the candle quickly, and create soot. Use a wick trimmer to get a precise cut.
- Burn your candles for 3-4 hours at a time. It is crucial the first time you burn your candle to burn it long enough for the melted wax to reach the border of your vessel. This prevents the wax from building up and possibly tunneling during future use.
Why Coconut Apricot Wax?
Our goal is to make high-quality, clean, and safe candles. During our research, we found that Coconut Apricot Creme wax was the best. It is clean-burning, biodegradable, natural, renewable, vegan, non-toxic, gluten-free, paraben-free, and phthalate-free. It is FDA-approved, so you can have peace of mind while burning our candles in your home or studio.
Why is the wax used important?
Most candles are a wax blend; most commonly, you will see a soy-paraffin mix. Paraffin is the most used wax for candles because of its low cost. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum and tends to cause more concerns in the long run. This is why we went the route of coconut apricot wax.
Why wooden wicks?
Some cotton wicks contain lead and metals and can emit relatively large amounts of lead in the air while burning. Wooden wicks provide a calming subtle crackling sound, they are organic, non-toxic and eco-friendly sourced from FSC-certified mills and made in USA.
What are Scent Notes?
A candle has three types of notes, a top note, a middle note, and a base note. A top note is the first scent you ‘experience’ when the candle starts to burn or when smelling while the candle is unlit.
The middle notes, are the scent results after the top note has faded a bit.
Finally, you have the base note, which is the scent that comes to life once the candle reaches a full melt pool. It can take up to an hour or so for this to occur. So what is the true and actual scent of the candle? That would be the mix of the middle notes and base notes.
Can I reuse my vessel? How?
YES! You can upcycle your vessel after you finish your candle. An easy way to do this is:
- While the leftover wax is still warm (NOT HOT, Be careful!), wipe out the vessel with a dry paper towel.
- Clean the container with your favorite cleaning product and you're done!
A few ways we love to reuse our vessels are
- Refilling with a candle refill from us ( more info to come! )
- As a desk or office accessory
- mini planter
- makeup brush holder
